Our Mission : Food, Education, Medicine
Today, Saint Paul reminds us of the heart of our Christian faith: “In Christ we have redemption by his Blood, the forgiveness of our transgressions, in accord with the riches of his grace.” Our salvation is not something we earn by our own efforts; it is a gift of God’s abundant grace, revealed through Jesus Christ, who reconciles us with the Father and calls us to live as his beloved children.
God’s plan, as Saint Paul explains, is to bring all things together in Christ. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus restores our broken relationship with God and invites us into a new life of holiness, forgiveness, and peace. Our response to this grace must be sincere conversion: allowing Christ to heal our hearts, reconcile our relationships, and transform the way we treat others.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus challenges the scholars of the law for honoring the prophets who were persecuted in the past while refusing to listen to God’s message in their own time. They build monuments to the prophets, yet their hearts remain closed to the truth. Jesus warns them that religious appearances are meaningless when they are not accompanied by genuine conversion and obedience to God.
This Gospel invites us to examine ourselves. Do we honor God with our words while resisting his will in our daily lives? Do we celebrate the saints but refuse to imitate their courage, humility, and faithfulness? Sometimes, standing for the truth, defending the vulnerable, forgiving those who hurt us, or challenging injustice may invite criticism and opposition. Yet Christian fidelity requires us to remain faithful to Christ, even when doing so is difficult. We must speak the truth with charity, not hostility, and never allow opposition to turn our hearts away from love.
Today, we celebrate Saint Teresa of Jesus, also known as Saint Teresa of Ávila, a great Carmelite reformer, mystic, and Doctor of the Church. Through her life of prayer, spiritual wisdom, and courageous reform, she teaches us that genuine renewal begins with an intimate relationship with Christ. Despite the difficulties and opposition, she encountered, she persevered in her vocation, trusting in God’s providence. Her example reminds us that prayer is not an escape from life but a way of becoming more faithful, courageous, and loving in the service of God.
Dear friends, the Psalm proclaims, “The Lord has made known his salvation.” Let us receive this salvation with grateful hearts. May we never become people who honor the truth only in the past but reject it when it challenges us today. Through the intercession of Saint Teresa of Jesus, may prayer deepen our faith, reconciliation restore our relationships, and fidelity to Christ strengthen us to bear witness to the Gospel, even amid opposition.
