Scripture Verse

Readings: Acts 25:13b-21/Psalm 103/John 21:15-19
Friday of the Seventh Week of Easter
In today’s Gospel, Jesus Christ turns to Saint Peter with a question that cuts to the heart: “Do you love me?” He asks it three times, not to shame Peter, but to heal him. The threefold denial is now met with a threefold confession of love. And each time Peter responds, Jesus gives him a mission: Feed… Tend… Care. Love for Christ is never meant to remain private. It must become responsibility. It must become service. It must become care for others. Peter is not simply forgiven, he is entrusted. This moment reveals something powerful: Jesus does not wait for perfect people before giving them responsibility. He takes wounded, forgiven people and makes them shepherds. The proof of Peter’s love is no longer in words, but in how he will care for others, especially the weak, the “lambs.” In the first reading, Paul the Apostle stands firm before authorities. His message centers on one truth: Jesus who died is alive. This is the same truth that fuels Peter’s mission. The Church is built not on perfection, but on witnesses, people who have encountered the risen Christ and now live for Him. In our ministry, our parish, our friendships, love must become action. Sometimes it means encouragement, sometimes correction, sometimes simply presence. True love is pastoral. And like Peter, following Christ will not always be easy. Jesus hints at sacrifice: “You will be led where you do not want to go.” Love will stretch us, cost us, and transform us. But in the end, the call is simple and profound: “Follow me.”
