The greeting “Hail Mary, full of grace” is not just a prayer we recite, it is a revelation of who Mary is and who we are called to become. In Mary, we see a life completely open to God, a heart that allowed grace to take root and flourish. In the first reading from Isaiah, we hear of a people clothed in salvation, wrapped in justice, and rejoicing in the Lord. These words find a living expression in Mary. She is the one adorned not with earthly beauty, but with divine favor. Like a fertile garden, her soul allowed God’s Word to grow and bear fruit for the whole world. Through her “yes,” salvation itself entered human history. The Psalm invites us: “Listen… see and bend your ear.” This is the posture of Mary. She listens deeply, not just with her ears but with her whole being. She hears the Word and treasures it. This is why, in the Gospel, when a woman praises Mary’s motherhood, Jesus gently redirects the focus: “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” This is not a dismissal of Mary; it is the highest praise of her. Mary is blessed not only because she bore Christ physically, but because she first received Him spiritually, through faith and obedience. The message of Fatima echoes this same call: conversion, prayer, and a return to God. Mary appeared not to draw attention to herself, but to lead hearts back to her Son. Her repeated invitation, especially through the Rosary is a call to become like her: attentive, faithful, and responsive to God’s grace.
