"The Harvest Is Abundant: Trust the Lord and Answer His Call."

The Gospel reveals the compassionate heart of Jesus. He travels tirelessly from town to town, preaching the Good News, healing the sick, and restoring those who were burdened by suffering and evil. Unlike the Pharisees, who respond with suspicion and criticism, Jesus looks upon the crowds with deep compassion because they are "troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd." His concern is not merely for their physical needs but for their spiritual well-being. Moved by this compassion, He declares, "The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few." The world is full of people longing for hope, forgiveness, healing, and the truth of the Gospel, yet there are too few willing to dedicate themselves completely to God's mission. This invitation is not addressed only to priests and religious. Every baptized Christian is called to be a laborer in the Lord's harvest. Parents become laborers by raising their children in faith. Teachers, healthcare workers, volunteers, and faithful parishioners become laborers through lives of service, integrity, and love. Young people discerning their future are invited to ask not only what career they desire, but also how God is calling them to build His Kingdom. The Church continues to pray for holy vocations to the priesthood and religious life, but she also prays that every Christian may courageously embrace his or her unique vocation with generosity and joy. As we reflect today, Jesus' words challenge each of us personally: Am I trusting in God or in the idols of my own making? Am I merely observing the needs around me, or am I responding with the compassion of Christ? The harvest remains abundant in our families, parishes, workplaces, and communities. The Lord continues to call ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary works through His grace. May we become faithful laborers who place our complete trust in God and generously answer His invitation to bring His love and mercy to a world longing for hope.
