Wisdom 7:22-8:1/ Psalm 119/ Gospel = Luke 17:20-25
Today’s readings draw us into the mystery of Divine Wisdom—that quiet, radiant presence of God that animates all creation and gives meaning to our lives. In the Book of Wisdom, we hear a breathtaking description of this Spirit: intelligent, holy, subtle, kind, all-powerful, and all-seeing. It is not a cold or distant force but a living, active energy, the reflection of God’s eternal light, “a spotless mirror of the working of God and an image of His goodness.” In other words, Wisdom is the gentle radiance of God that enters the human heart and illumines all things from within. The author tells us that this Wisdom “pervades and penetrates all things.” This means that nothing in life is outside the reach of God’s presence. Whether in joy or suffering, clarity or confusion, the Spirit of Wisdom moves quietly within the fabric of our days, revealing divine purpose where the world sees only chaos. True faith, therefore, is not merely believing in God’s existence but learning to see the world through the eyes of Wisdom—to glimpse divine meaning in what seems ordinary or painful. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us that “the Kingdom of God is among you.” It is not something we wait to appear “here or there,” but something already present, hidden in the depths of our hearts and revealed through eyes of faith. The same divine Wisdom that shaped creation now dwells in us. The Kingdom and Wisdom are two sides of the same reality: God’s life alive in humanity. This calls for a new way of seeing. The wise heart recognizes God in the unnoticed moments—an act of kindness, a word of forgiveness, a breath of gratitude. To live by this Wisdom is to allow God’s light to shine through us, to become mirrors reflecting His goodness in a world that too often forgets it. So today, we need to pray for the gift of Divine Wisdom: that we may see with God’s eyes, love with His heart, and act with His clarity. When we allow that light to dwell in us, we become what Wisdom already is—a living reflection of God’s eternal goodness. Fr Stephen A. Okoli, SMMM
