In the first reading, Gamaliel offers a surprising moment of wisdom. Instead of reacting with fear or violence, he invites patience and discernment: “If this is from God, you will not be able to destroy it.” His words remind us that truth has a quiet strength. What comes from God does not need force to survive, it endures.

The Apostles understood this deeply. Even after being flogged and warned, they left rejoicing. That response is striking. They were not discouraged by suffering because they were convinced of one thing: they were on God’s side. Their joy did not come from comfort, but from conviction.

The Gospel gives us a concrete image of how God works. Faced with a hungry crowd, the disciples see scarcity, five loaves and two fish are not enough. But Jesus sees possibility. He takes what is small, blesses it, and multiplies it. What seemed insufficient becomes abundance.

This is often how God acts in our lives. We focus on what we lack, time, strength, resources, courage. God asks us to offer what we have, no matter how small. When placed in His hands, even the little becomes more than enough.
Both readings invite us to trust. If something is truly rooted in God, our calling, our ministry, our witness, it will bear fruit, even through challenges. And like the Apostles, we are called not to be silent, but to continue sharing Christ with courage.
So, the question for us today is simple:
Do we trust that what we offer to God, however small, can become something greater?

When we do, we begin to see that God is already at work, and nothing that comes from Him will ever be wasted.
