Our Mission : Food, Education, Medicine
God’s love is not meant to condemn, but to save. “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.” The response to this love reveals something deeper about the human heart, some choose the light, while others remain in darkness. Jesus makes it clear: whoever lives the truth comes to the light.
The truth is not just an idea or a statement; truth is a person, Jesus Christ himself. To “live the truth” is therefore to live in relationship with Christ, allowing his light to shape our lives. This involves honesty, integrity, repentance, and a willingness to be seen as we truly are before God. The light does not exist to shame us, but to heal and transform us.
The Gospel also highlights a tension: people sometimes prefer darkness because it hides their works. Darkness represents sin, fear, and resistance to God’s grace. Light, on the other hand, reveals, purifies, and sets free. Coming to the light requires humility, it means allowing God to expose what is broken within us so that He can restore it.
This is beautifully illustrated in the first reading from Acts. The Apostles are imprisoned for preaching the truth of the Resurrection, yet they are miraculously freed and instructed to continue teaching. They do not hide in fear or retreat into silence. Instead, they step boldly into the light, proclaiming “everything about this life.” Their courage shows what it means to live in the truth: they align themselves completely with Christ, no matter the cost.
The Psalm reminds us that this path of truth and light is not without struggle, but God hears “the cry of the poor.” Those who turn to Him are not abandoned. The light of Christ is not harsh; it is compassionate and saving.
For us today, this theme is a call to examination and conversion. Are there areas of our lives we keep hidden from God? Do we avoid the light because it challenges us to change? Or are we willing to step into the light, trusting that God’s love is greater than our weaknesses?
To live the truth means more than avoiding sin; it means actively choosing what is good, just, and loving. It means that our actions reflect our faith. It means that what we do in private and in public is rooted in God.
May we have the courage to live the truth, to step into the light without fear, and to allow our lives to be seen as works done in God.
